Waiting to meet you

A few of the good dogs currently in foster care around the District. Each one is vetted, vaccinated, and very ready for a couch of their own.

How adoption works

From first click to gotcha day, most of our adoptions take one to two weeks.

  1. Browse & apply

Find a dog who fits your life and submit our adoption application. It takes about ten minutes.

  2. Meet your match

We'll set up a meet-and-greet with the dog and their foster family, somewhere relaxed in the DC area.

  3. Home visit

A quick, friendly walkthrough — virtual or in person — to help set your new dog up for success.

  4. Gotcha day

Sign the adoption contract, pay the fee, and head home with your new best friend (and a starter kit).

Three ways to change a dog's life

Not ready to adopt? You can still be the reason a shelter dog gets a second chance.

Foster

Open your home for a few weeks while a dog waits for their family. We cover every expense — food, supplies, and all vet care. You supply the couch.

Foster a dog

Volunteer

Drive a transport leg, snap adoption photos, run an events table, or conduct home visits. A couple hours a month makes a real difference.

“The team knew our dog's quirks, her favorite treats, even the exact spot she likes scratched. It never felt like an adoption — it felt like being introduced to family.”
